INXS museum part of massive new business park in Ballina

A new sensation is planned for land at Ballina airport, and the State Government has chipped in funds to start the work.

Ballina Shire Council has been granted $3.95m from the NSW Government to complete the civil works necessary to open up what has been described by the Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW, John Barilaro, as an “innovation park”. Click here to read further.

New $27M Ballina service centre to create 200 jobs

WORK on a long-awaited $27 million highway service centre at Ballina is due to start within weeks.

It will be built at the rest area at the Teven Rd interchange – at the junction of the Bruxner and Pacific highways – and is expected to create about 200 jobs.

The development application was approved through the Joint Regional Planning Panel in December 2017. BP Australia will build and operate the 24-hour highway service centre on land owned by Roads and Maritime Services. Click here to read further.

New $50M Rydges Hotel to be built at rapidly expanding Gold Coast Airport

Work has started on a $50 million Rydges-branded hotel at Gold Coast Airport.

The 192-room hotel, which will rise to the south of the airport site, will connect via a plaza area to the expanded terminal, which is also scheduled for redevelopment this year.

The hotel will be seven storeys and be topped by a rooftop bar and viewing deck, with views over Kirra Beach to the east and across the runway to the west. Click here to read further

334 new jobs to be created at massive $95M freight hub

High-calibre buyers line up for $95 million Casino hub.

Three high-calibre Australian organisations are in negotiations to buy a piece of the action in Casino’s rail distribution hub project. Construction of the 360,000sqm Pacific intermodal infrastructure and industrial estate was one step closer to starting at the freight cross-section east of Nammoona rail line, Summerland Way and south of the Reynolds Rd industrial estate.

According to Richmond Valley Council’s analysis of the project, it would bring 334 jobs and $30 million in wages and salaries. Click here to read further.

New Tweed Heads Hospital concept design revealed

A concept design of the new $534 million Tweed Valley Hospital has been revealed by NSW Health, with a video of the impression released this morning.

Tweed MP Geoff Provest said the design represented a significant milestone in the planning for the hospital, which he said “remains on time and on budget”. “The design team has come up with a vision for the site, which fits in beautifully with the landscape and the environment and preserves the wetlands for future generations,” .

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the State Government was investing $582 million in the Tweed, while more than $280 million was being spent on improving health facilities at Lismore, Bonalbo and Pottsville. Click here to read further.

HTW Ballina Shire update

Values throughout the Ballina Shire stabilised throughout 2018 after strong increases throughout the 2016 and 2017 calendar years, according to the latest Herron Todd White residential report. 

Some Ballina regions experienced declines in value on the back of weaker Sydney and Melbourne markets, although the lack of available stock generally prevented any notable falls in value throughout the sought-after areas of the shire, HTW noted. Click here to read further.
